22527 Living National Treasure Jiro Kinjo (Shrimp Design Square Bottle)

Kinjo Jiro was involved in the pottery industry from his youth, studying under Arakaki Eitoku, known as the master craftsman of Tsuboya. After the war, he built a kiln in Tsuboya, Naha City, and worked to protect and develop Tsuboya ware under the guidance of Hamada Shoji and Kawai Kanjiro, among others. In 1985, he was designated a Living National Treasure for his work on "Ryukyu pottery." This tasteful square bottle is decorated with shrimp, a design that is synonymous with the artist.
