Born in Meiji 30. Died in 1985. Originally from Aichi Prefecture.
He began his career as a full-time potter at the age of 17, and began working on Shino ware and Oribe ware at the age of 32. In 1947, he founded the Japan Ceramic Art Association.
He was recognized as an intangible cultural asset for his Oribe ware techniques and received the Mainichi Art Award.
