Imaizumi Imaemon
[13th] Born in 1926. Died in 2001. Born in Saga Prefecture. Eldest son of the 12th Imaemon. Graduated from Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts) in 1949. First selected for the Nitten exhibition in 1957. Received the Encouragement Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition in 1965. Succeeded to the name of the 13th Imaemon in 1975. Worked to preserve the traditional Iro Nabeshima technique (designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property by a group in 1976), while creating his own unique techniques. Received the Grand Prize at the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition in 1981. Received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1986. Recognized as a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) for "colored porcelain" in 1989. Received the Order of the Rising Sun, Fourth Class, Gold Rays with Rosette in 1999.
