Imaizumi Imaemon
[13th] Born in 1926. Died in 2001. Born in Saga Prefecture. Eldest son of the 12th Imaemon. Graduated from Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts) in 1949.
In 1957, he was selected for the Nitten Exhibition for the first time. In 1965, he received the Encouragement Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
In 1975, he took on the name of the 13th Imaemon. While working to preserve the traditional techniques of Iro Nabeshima (designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property in 1976), he created his own unique techniques.
In 1981, he won the Grand Prize at the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition. In 1986, he received the Medal with Purple Ribbon. In 1989, he was recognized as a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) "Iroe Porcelain." In 1999, he received the Order of the Rising Sun, Fourth Class, Gold Rays with Rosette.
