Born in 1919. Died in 1986. Born in Aichi Prefecture. Second son of Jyugoro Shibata.
After studying ceramic design as an apprentice in the design department of the National Ceramics Testing Institute in Kyoto, he took over the family name Kawamoto Rekutei, a blue and white porcelain artist.
He has been active both in Japan and abroad, receiving the Grand Prix at the Brussels World's Fair, the Gold Award at the California International Design Awards, the highest award at the Asahi Contemporary Japanese Ceramic Art Exhibition, and the Japan Ceramic Association Award.
