Toyozo Arakawa
Born in 1894. Died in 1985. Born in Tajimi City. In 1922, he became the factory manager of Miyanaga Tozan Kiln in Kyoto. He later became the kiln manager of Hoshigaoka Kiln, which was built by Kitaoji Rosanjin in Kamakura. In 1930, he discovered the remains of an ancient kiln for Shino and Setoguro ware from the Momoyama period in Ogaya, Mino. He worked hard to restore Momoyama Shino and Setoguro ware. In 1955, he was recognized as a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) for "Shino and Setoguro". In 1965, he was awarded the Purple Ribbon Medal. In 1971, he was awarded the Order of Culture.
