Kozo Kato
Born in 1935. Originally from Gifu Prefecture. In 1967, he won the Excellence Award at the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition for his "Iron Glazed Vase". In 1968, he won the Excellence Award (Asahi Award) for his "Iron Glazed Flower Vase" at the 15th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition. In 1971, he became a judge at the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition. In 1984, he became a judge at the Chunichi International Ceramic Art Exhibition. In 1985, he won the Japan Ceramic Association Award. In 1994, he won the Tokai Television Culture Award. In 1995, he was recognized as an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Gifu Prefecture. In 1998, he won the Chunichi Culture Award.
