Sekisui Ito
Born in 1941 as the eldest son of the fourth Sekisui in Sado County, Niigata Prefecture. Won his first award at the 19th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition in 1972. In 2003, he was designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) for his "Mumyoi-yaki" ware.
