Born in 1944. Died in 2008. Originally from Hyogo Prefecture. Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts, Department of Crafts, majoring in ceramics.
During his university days, he met Kenkichi Tomimoto and began researching creative pottery. In 1976, he built a kiln in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture.
In 1980, he won the Gold Prize at the Faenza International Ceramic Art Exhibition, and in 1988, he won the Japan Ceramic Association Prize.
