Born in 1933 in Gifu Prefecture.
After graduating from junior high school, he self-taught himself in ceramics. He has received the Mino Newcomer Award, the Kato Kobei Award, and the Gifu Shimbun Grand Prize, among others.
In 1995, it was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Property of Tajimi City, and in 2003, it was recognized as an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Gifu Prefecture.
