Kei Fujiwara
Born in Meiji 32. Died in 1983. Originally from Okayama Prefecture.
In his youth, he moved to Tokyo with the aim of becoming a writer, but in 1938 he returned home without achieving his goal.
After returning to his hometown at the age of 39, he took his first steps in pottery making under the guidance of Baikei Mimura. He then received instruction in pottery techniques from Toyo Kaneshige and began his career as a potter.
In 1957, he was recognized as a holder of the Okayama Prefecture Intangible Cultural Property "Bizen ware". In 1963, he received the Sanyo Culture Award. In 1970, he was recognized as a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) "Bizen ware". In 1972, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Fourth Class.
