Koju Nishioka
Born in Saga Prefecture in 1917. From around 1950, he studied at the excavation of the Karatsu kiln ruins for about 20 years. His encounter with Fujio Koyama marked a turning point for him, and he began making pottery in 1969, at the age of 52. His first solo exhibition was in 1973. He is a master of Karatsu ware who has brought old Karatsu ware back to life in the modern era.
