He is the sixth generation of Kiyomizu-yaki potters to succeed the name of Kiyomizu-yaki since the middle of the Edo period. He is the sixth generation of Kiyomizu ware potters to inherit the name of Kiyomizu ware, which has been in existence since the middle of the Edo period. He pioneered unique artistic fields such as sansai, genkai, rust, and kokkaisai, and carved his name into the history of Japanese ceramics in the Showa period. Shimizu Rokubei VI, who pioneered many new glazes through his own studies, created “Ko-ki-rasai” in his later years when he reached his 70th birthday, based on his originality and artistry. The “Zuimatsu” painted with his solid modeling ability, pale and glossy glaze, and brilliant brushstrokes, shines brilliantly and matches perfectly with the calm and serene form of the piece.
