Watanabe Satoshi was born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1959, and after graduating from the Faculty of Economics at Senshu University, he established his studio in Kanpu, Ushimado, Okayama Prefecture in 1989. In 1990, he built a 20-meter semi-underground anagama kiln and held his first solo exhibition at Okayama Tenmaya. He also studied under Mori Togaku, an Okayama Prefecture Intangible Cultural Property, and has won numerous awards at the Tea Ceremony Design Exhibition.
