This is a late-career work by the 3rd generation Tokuda Yasokichi, a Living National Treasure of Kutani ware. The exquisite flow of the glaze, a characteristic of the 3rd generation Tokuda Yasokichi, and the glass-like, translucent cobalt blue are further highlighted by the highly refined form of this piece. The gradation of cobalt blue and yellow is so beautiful that it seems to draw you in.

"Yōsai" means "shining colors." The character "Yō" has been used since the "70th Birthday Commemorative Yōsai Exhibition" in 2003 (Heisei 15).
