About "Basara"

"Basara" is a term referring to the social trends and cultural fashions of medieval Japan, specifically during the Northern and Southern Courts period. It describes extravagant attire, flamboyant and unrestrained behavior that defies common sense, or the state of such. It can also refer to rare and exotic objects. True to its name, this work is one of his representative series, featuring a bold design with glossy checkered patterns and striking colors.
