A work by Shimizu Uichi, a world-renowned ceramic artist who studied Chinese ceramics under Ishiguro Munemaro, a Living National Treasure for "Iron Glaze Ceramics." After training at the Kyoto National Ceramic Research Institute, he served as an assistant in the ceramics department of the Kyoto Municipal Industrial Research Institute. He then dedicated himself to ceramic art, primarily in his home studio, and at the age of 59, he was recognized as a Living National Treasure for "Iron Glaze Ceramics," setting a record as the youngest person to achieve this at the time. In his later years, he relocated his studio to the foothills of Mt. Horai on the western shore of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture and continued his active career.
