This is a work by the great ceramic artist Sakaida Kakiemon 13th (1906-1982) who, together with his father, the 12th generation, revived the once-declining "Nigorite" style, boasted the greatest skill of all Kakiemon generations, and built the foundation for the prosperity of modern Kakiemon. The popular pomegranate and peony design is carefully painted, stroke by stroke, on the beautiful moist milky white base that is unique to Nigorite.
