Kobee Ichinose is a joiner, and joinery is a general term for furniture and fittings made by joining boards together, but in the tea ceremony, joinery includes shelves, long boards, tea boxes, confectionery dishes, tobacco trays, wooden water jars, brazier screens, hearth rims, etc. As the pieces are assembled without using any nails, even the slightest deviation is not allowed, and it takes an incredibly long time to master the technique.
The profession of joiner first appeared after the Muromachi period and developed with the establishment of the tea ceremony culture.
One such joiner is Kobee Ichinose, who belongs to a branch family of Komazawa Risai, one of the Ten Craftsmen of the Sen family, and has frequent visits to the head of the family, where he makes boxes and shelves.
We are a family of joiners, and the current generation is the fifth generation, so we create our products using wood that has been aged for over 100 years and has been passed down through the generations.
