This is a very rare hand-finished guimai made by Raku Keinyu, the 11th head of the Raku family, one of the Ten Craftsmen of the Sen family and a highly acclaimed master craftsman. It has the "Dong Qichang seal" (medium seal) that he used from the age of 38 until his retirement at the age of 55. Keinyu's work is not limited to tea bowls, but also has a wide range of products such as plates, bowls, kaiseki utensils, and even sencha utensils. Keinyu's style favors the artificiality of nonkou and ryonyu, and his decoration is also exquisite. This guimai is an exquisite item that well displays Keinyu's characteristics.
