This is a work by the great master of folk art, Kanjiro Kawai. He was active from the Taisho to Showa eras. His style can be broadly divided into three periods. The early period (the Zhongxi Kiln period) was modeled on ancient Chinese ceramics, the middle period was "beauty of utility," and the later period was "sculpting." His works from each period can only be described as "genius," and his popularity among folk art artists has not waned even today. This work, created in the later period of "sculpting," is called "Hanade" and is full of Kanjiro's extraordinary talent for "sculpting." This unique glaze is also the result of his dedication to glaze research at the Kyoto Ceramic Research Institute. This is one of the greatest masterpieces that shows the passion overflowing from the depths of the life of the great master of folk art, Kanjiro Kawai. Please take this opportunity to add it to your collection.
