He was exposed to the atomic bomb in Hiroshima in his youth, and although he suffered from leukemia, his indomitable spirit led him to dedicate himself to the study of Persian pottery, producing a variety of works including reproductions of Persian pottery and restorations of the Shosoin treasures. During his lifetime, he was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon and designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property, and after his death, he was awarded the Oribe Prize Special Prize, leaving behind a brilliant legacy of achievements and laying the foundations for modern Mino pottery. This work is by Takuo Kato, who, through his unique training, reproduced Persian pottery such as lusterware, san-cai, and blue-glazed porcelain, winning the MOA Grand Prize, the highest honor in the ceramics world, and later was designated a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure).

It depicts deer playing happily, and the little birds are a lovely accent, making it a heartwarming piece.
