His real name is Kunihiro Kunihiro, a Living National Treasure for Lacquer (as of September 2006), Chief Lecturer at the Ishikawa Prefectural Wajima Lacquerware Technical Training Institute, Director of the Japan Crafts Council, and Chief Secretary of the Japan Crafts Council Ishikawa Branch. He is the first Living National Treasure to be a graduate of the Ishikawa Prefectural Wajima Lacquerware Technical Research Institute.
