He has inherited the traditional Kakiemon style into the modern era, and has further evolved the muddy style established by his predecessor to produce wonderful works with outstanding depiction and high sense. This work was created by the 14th generation Sakaida Kakiemon himself, a leading figure who has made great achievements, including being recognized as a Living National Treasure for Arita ware colored porcelain. His popular subjects include the floral designs (mountain azalea, cherry blossoms, and strawberry flowers) painted with light, flowing brushwork and a clean, unobtrusive color scheme on a milky white muddy base with three-sided division, and are bright and beautifully expressed. The powerful shapes are perfectly balanced, the painting is vivid and realistic, and the dense drawings are accented with beautiful white space, making this an exquisite masterpiece. The works of the 14th generation, who bears the 400-year history of Arita, continue to receive increasing praise even today, and will surely continue to attract a lot of attention in the future.
