Born on September 1, 1934.
He learned woodturning techniques from his father, Koichi, and later studied under Kodo Himi.
He is active in exhibitions of traditional Japanese crafts, with his works using inlay and other techniques.
In 1994, he was named a Living National Treasure for woodworking. He is also the chairman of the Yamanaka Lacquerware Lathe Turning Technique Preservation Society.
Born in Ishikawa Prefecture.
