This is a work from his later years, using the Tsutsugaki technique, in which glaze is squeezed out and applied in a three-dimensional way. The colors of the Shigaraki and Tsutsugaki patterns are excellent, and among the various flat vases by Kanjiro, this is an especially original and design-filled piece, with flowers and hands on one side, described as "flower hands," and a face and flower on the other. It is one of Kanjiro's sharpest ideas among his Tsutsugaki works, and speaks of the full range of his ceramic work that was born from his wholehearted efforts. It exudes an aura of deep creativity, with unrestrained, bold, and versatile qualities, and is a rare style that is consistent in both shape and pattern, making it a masterpiece of the highest order.
