Kazuhiro Yamamoto
Born in Nagasaki Prefecture in 1944, he learned Arita ware by himself and began researching pure platinum color at the age of 41. He is a famous artist who uses platinum with a purity of 98%, and is the only person in the world to create pottery using "pure platinum".
Kazuhiro began training in Arita/Imari ware in his family's hometown of Saga Prefecture in 1969, and is known for perfecting Platinum Color, which uses high-purity platinum, which he began doing in 1985. This unique technique makes it possible to enhance the color and luster of porcelain, and creates colors that are different from the previously known layered coatings of gold, red, and blue underglaze and overglaze.
In 2010, he held a special invitational exhibition at the National Museum of Ceramic Art in Valencia, Spain. His artistic talent has been recognized as a "ceramic jewel" by the Honorary President of the Catalan Ceramic Association, and Yamamoto's collection is admired worldwide.
"The town of Ohara in Kyoto is located in a quiet mountain area. It is a place where you can get a glimpse of the elegant lifestyle of aristocrats in the Heian period. I tried to express the slow pace of life that was typical of the Heian period." (From the work's description)
