Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Born in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the third son of the 9th generation Setsudo of the Miwa Kiln of Hagi ware. He learned the traditional techniques of the family law from his elder brother, Kyusetsu (Kyuwa) the 10th. Later, he studied tea ceremony pottery under Kawakita Hanjiko. In 1957, he was selected for the first time for the 4th Traditional Crafts Exhibition. In 1967, he succeeded to the name of the 11th Kyusetsu following the retirement of his elder brother Kyuwa. In 1968, he was awarded the Chugoku Culture Prize. In 1970, he received the Yamaguchi Prefecture Cultural Merit Award. In 1982, he was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, 4th class. In 1983, he was recognized as the holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) “Hagi-yaki”. The bold appearance and unique presence of this piece are condensed in a gulping cup.
