Karatsu ware is heavily influenced by the pottery of the Korean Yi Dynasty, which is its roots, and along with Mishima Karatsu, there is a technique called Brushed Karatsu that is thought to have been directly handed down by the Yi Dynasty.
Brushed Karatsu refers to pottery made from Karatsu clay, decorated with patterns made with a brush or writing brush, comb-patterned decorations, or white makeup applied with a brush.
After Old Karatsu came to an end with the appearance of Imari porcelain, Brushed Karatsu pottery was popular throughout the Edo period in a wide area as Karatsu pottery.

What makes Jinenbou's brushwork different from others is that many of his works are powerful, with thick brushstrokes that give a three-dimensional feel.
The surface and edges of the vessels made from coarse clay are uneven, and the clear glaze accumulates in the thick brush marks and finger marks that are unique to Shizenbo. Air bubbles form inside the glaze, and they all come together to create the finished product. Please take a look at the magnificent Shizenbo brushed Karatsu ware and enjoy each and every one of its finished products.
