After meeting Muneyoshi Yanagi and becoming fascinated with the decorative techniques of Okinawan Bingata dyeing, he embarked on a path of dyeing centered on stencil dyeing. With his natural talent for color and pattern, he created one fresh and inventive work after another that was not bound by the conventional framework of dyeing, and was recognized as a Living National Treasure. Serizawa Keisuke (1895-1984) was a great dyeing artist.
