His father was the 9th generation of the Miwa family, Kyusetsu (Setsudo), who is a member of the traditional Hagi ware family. He studied under his father, as well as his elder brother Kyusetsu (10th generation) and Kawakita Handeishi (1910-2012). In 1967, he took on the name of the 11th generation Miwa Kyusetsu, and skillfully inherited the traditional Goryeo pottery and the style of "Kyusetsu-haku" created by his brother. He also developed his own bold and daring style of pottery, which he called "Oni Hagi". This work is made by Living National Treasure Miwa Jusetsu (1910-2012). The work shows the pottery made with his own unique aesthetic sense in traditional Hagi ware, and the pure white straw ash glaze "Kyusetsu-haku" is applied. The magnificent appearance of the kiln changes fused with the bold and daring design is an overwhelming force that will deeply impress anyone who sees it. This is a masterpiece that can be viewed from any angle. Jusetsu's work is decisive yet calm.

In 2003, at the age of 93, he handed over the family headship to the 12th generation Kyusetsu, taking the name Jusetsu. He continued to make all the pottery processes by hand, such as by stomping on the clay instead of using a kneading machine, and continued to be active until his later years. He passed away on December 11, 2012, due to old age. He was 102 years old. He was awarded the fifth rank.

The Jusetsu period lasted only about 10 years, and there were only a few solo exhibitions. How difficult is it to encounter Jusetsu's work?
