Suzuki Kura has been earnestly pursuing the essence of Momoyama Shino ware to be passed down to the present day through firing in gas kilns, and his works, which have a strong presence and autonomy, were recognized and he was designated a Living National Treasure for his "Shino" ware in 1994. Although fired in a gas kiln, this Shino ware has the atmosphere of a wood-fired kiln, fusing Momoyama and modern times to create a new Shino style.
