Kyosuke Hayashi was born in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, in 1962. At the age of 23, he enrolled as an apprentice at the Toki City Ceramics Testing Center. Just the following year, he was selected for the 30th Ceramic Design Competition. This ceramic artist's talent was recognized at an early age. However, he did not become complacent; instead, he studied under Living National Treasure Kozo Kato and honed his ceramic techniques. His daily work honed his skills and won numerous awards. However, there is one achievement that made the ceramic artist Kyosuke Hayashi famous and most highly acclaimed: the Yohen Tenmoku pottery, a type of pottery created in China 800 years ago. The transmission of the technique was cut off, and only three pieces remain in the world from that time. Both are carefully preserved as national treasures in Japan. Japanese potter Kyosuke Hayashi successfully restored the Yohen Tenmoku pottery. "I want to let the people of China know that this magnificent pottery was created in China 800 years ago and has been carefully preserved in Japan." This masterpiece stands out for its outstanding beauty, as if reflecting the thoughts of Professor Hayashi, who spoke with shining eyes.
