Kitaoji Rosanjin was hailed as an artist who never made it big, and showed his extraordinary talent not only in ceramics but also in seal carving, lacquerware, calligraphy, and other fields. He was a great master of all arts, leaving behind many masterpieces and legends.

Rosanjin, who had mastered tableware that would bring out the best in food, also paid particular attention to the chopstick pillows on which chopsticks were placed.
Among the many variations of chopstick rests, the fish design stands out.

The molds were mass-produced based on plaster molds made by Professor Rosanjin, and feature dynamic tail fins that give the fish the appearance of jumping out of the water, and distinct eyes that give the impression of life. These are examples of the attention to detail that only Rosanjin, who left behind a variety of works with fish motifs, could have.
