Born in Nakano Ward, Tokyo in 1961. Influenced by his father, a successful designer, he enrolled in the Department of Crafts at Tokyo University of the Arts. Attracted by the colorful use of color by Yoshimichi Fujimoto, professor of ceramics at the time (later president of Tokyo University of the Arts and Living National Treasure), he chose ceramics in his third year. After graduating from the Graduate School of Ceramics at Tokyo University of the Arts, he became Yoshimichi Fujimoto's apprentice. After Fujimoto's death, he built a kiln in Hino City, Tokyo, and began his artistic career. He is currently a full member of the Japan Crafts Council. He developed his own technique of glaze-engraved colored enamel, achieving dazzling colors that are unimaginable from the word "ceramics." His work exhibited at the 66th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition was purchased by the Imperial Household Agency, and he has become an artist who has gained even greater acclaim in recent years.

He established a unique technique called "Glazed Ink Painting with Gold and Silver," which produces deep, complex colors through repeated firing and layering. He applies a copper-based glaze that produces a wine-colored color known as Bordeaux glaze, and creates a fantastical world with his original depictions of birds, fish, and a variety of other living creatures and plants.
