Nakagawa Shizenbo (1953-2011) was a ceramic artist from Saga Prefecture who, after graduating from high school, studied under Inoue Toya and pursued a career in ceramics. At the Nakagawa Shizenbo Kiln, in addition to Chosen Karatsu, various styles of Karatsu ware are produced, including Hakeme Karatsu, Kohiki Karatsu, Madara Karatsu, Mishima Karatsu, and Kuro Karatsu.

One of his most well-known styles is "Konhiki Karatsu," which is made by applying a thin layer of white cosmetic clay to the surface of the clay, then applying a glaze on top and firing it, resulting in a soft white texture.

The soft white color is striking, and the unevenness of the decorative clay and the iron spots in the clay create a natural look.

Many of them are small and are said to fit snugly in your hand.
