Jun Isezaki was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1936. He graduated from the Department of Special Art, Faculty of Education, Okayama University in 1959, and in 1961 built a semi-underground anagama kiln with his brother Mitsuru Isezaki. He creates works that incorporate a modern sense of form while preserving the traditional techniques of Bizen ware. In 2004, he was designated a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure).
