As a professor at the National Ceramics Testing Institute under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, he engaged in basic research on iron glazes (Tenmoku glazes) and base materials, and devoted himself to the study of Tenmoku glazes in Gojozaka, Kyoto. After establishing his own unique techniques, he served as an auditor for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition and a director of the Japan Crafts Association, and is a highly popular artist who still has many fans today. This is an excellent work by Kimura Morikazu.

Konoha Tenmoku tea bowls are famous for being fired in the Jizhou kilns in China, and are characterized by the beautiful yellow leaves that stand out against the black glaze. Kimura Morikazu has reproduced this traditional Konoha Tenmoku using his own unique techniques, creating many pieces with a sense of depth and dignity. His works depict delicate leaves with each vein clearly visible, demonstrating his advanced technique.
