His father is a Tokoname ware Nitten ceramic artist, and his uncle is the third generation Yamada Jozan, a Living National Treasure of Tokoname ware. He is a thoroughbred in the world of ceramics. He looked up to Kato Tokuro, the founder of modern Mino ceramics, as his teacher and stuck to his teachings until the very end, continuing to create pottery using Echizen clay in Echizen, Fukui Prefecture. This piece is a wonderful piece, full of playful design born from a unique sensibility. It fully captures the charm of Yamada Kazu, who develops innovative and humorous works based on solid knowledge and technique. The shape and glaze are both outstanding.

Ao Oribe is pottery coated with a green glaze (Oribe glaze) that uses copper oxide as a coloring agent. This green glaze is also called "Oribe glaze," and the bright green color is produced by adding copper oxide to a transparent glaze.

In ancient Japan, green was expressed as "blue," so green Oribe ware came to be called "blue Oribe." The deep, rich green color is reminiscent of midsummer leaves and matcha tea, a very Japanese hue.
