After retiring from politics, he studied under Shiro Tsujimura and Togo Kobayashi, and built his own kiln, Futoan, in Yugawara, Kanagawa Prefecture. He has displayed extraordinary talent and enjoys immense popularity in contemporary ceramics. This is an Ido sake cup made by Hosokawa Morihiro, a master craftsman. It is a very beautiful piece with a dignified appearance.
