Shizenbo Nakagawa (1953-2011) was a ceramic artist from Saga Prefecture. After graduating from high school, he apprenticed under Toya Inoue and embarked on a career in pottery. At the Shizenbo Nakagawa Kiln, in addition to Korean Karatsu ware, various styles of Karatsu ware are produced, including brushed Karatsu, powder-glazed Karatsu, spotted Karatsu, Mishima Karatsu, and black Karatsu.

Shizenbo's Kohiki Karatsu ware ranges from clean white pieces to those with a rustic character due to the effects of the kiln during firing (kiln transformation), showcasing a diverse range of styles. Furthermore, the aging process allows you to enjoy the unique changes that occur over time, such as the distinctive "rain leak" pattern that develops with continued use.
