Michio Furutani (February 16, 1946 - July 19, 2000) was a Shigaraki ware ceramic artist.
Born in Shiga Prefecture, he studied under Kunio Uchida. Throughout his life, he built over 30 kilns in Shigaraki and Iga, exploring pottery making through kiln modifications, among other things. His first kiln was modeled after the "Goinoki" ancient kiln located on the border between Shiga and Mie Prefectures.
