This piece was created by Rokubei Kiyomizu VI, a master potter who inherited the prestigious name of a Kiyomizu ware ceramist family that had been active since the mid-Edo period. He had a distinguished career, accumulating brilliant achievements such as special selection at the Imperial Exhibition and receiving the Japan Art Academy Prize. He also pioneered unique artistic fields such as sansai (three-color glazes), genyo (black glaze), sabi (rust glaze), and koki-sai (ancient rare colors), carving his name into the history of Japanese ceramics in the Showa era.
