This is a work by the great ceramic artist of the modern Arita ceramic world, the 13th Kakiemon Sakaida, who made immense contributions to the revival and further development of modern Kakiemon. He succeeded in reviving the exquisite technique known as "Nigoshide," a superlative art form that ceased to exist in the mid-Edo period, by pursuing the classical styles of successive Kakiemon masters.
