A work by Shimizu Uichi, a world-renowned ceramist who studied Chinese ceramics under Ishiguro Munemaro, a Living National Treasure in "Iron Glaze Ceramics." After training at the National Kyoto Ceramic Testing Institute, he served as an assistant in the ceramics department of the Kyoto Municipal Industrial Research Institute. He then dedicated himself to ceramic art, primarily in his home studio, and at the young age of 59, became a Living National Treasure in "Iron Glaze Ceramics," the youngest record at the time. In his later years, he moved his studio to the foothills of Mt. Horai on the west side of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture and continued his active career.
