A major characteristic of Tokuda Yasokichi's work is that he creates pieces using only color combinations, rather than traditional Kutani-ware patterns. He developed "Saiyu," a technique that uses approximately 70 different colors and varying shades to complete his works. This piece is the same make as the piece chosen as a core work for his 77th birthday commemorative solo exhibition.
