This is a work by Shimizu Uichi, a world-renowned ceramic artist who studied Chinese ceramics under Ishiguro Maro, a Living National Treasure for "Iron Glaze Ceramics." After training at the National Kyoto Ceramic Testing Institute, he served as an assistant in the ceramics department of the Kyoto City Industrial Research Institute. He then dedicated himself to ceramic art, primarily in his home studio, and became a Living National Treasure for "Iron Glaze Ceramics" at the age of 59, the youngest at the time to receive this honor. In his later years, he moved his studio to the foot of Mt. Horai in Kosai, Shiga Prefecture, and continued to create.
