26427 Living National Treasure Inoue Manji White Porcelain Round Jar

Height: 35.8 cm
Diameter: 33.8 cm

As a leading expert in pottery wheel forming, Manji learned the craft under the tutelage of the 12th Kakiemon Sakaida. With his exceptional skill and extensive experience, he has championed Arita white porcelain. While Japanese ceramics often embrace accidental elements like distortion and kiln changes as part of a work's charm, white porcelain demands perfection without a single flaw, not just in its form but also in the absence of pinholes or impurities. This is a masterful work by Manji, who has perfected the monochrome world of white porcelain in Arita, a region traditionally known for polychrome traditions like Imari ware and Nabeshima ware.
