Although he was exposed to the atomic bomb in Hiroshima in his youth and suffered from leukemia, he devoted himself to the study of Persian pottery with his indomitable spirit, and produced various works such as reproductions of Persian pottery and restorations of Shosoin treasures. During his lifetime, he was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon and designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property, and after his death, he was awarded the Oribe Prize Special Prize, leaving a brilliant legacy and laying the foundations of modern Mino pottery. Takuo Kato has made a great achievement by reproducing Persian pottery such as lusterware, san-cai, and blue-glazed pottery through his own unique training, and has also received the MOA Grand Prize, the highest honor in the ceramics world, and been designated as a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure). Takuo Kato's lusterware, which was created by adding a Japanese sensibility to the reproduction of Persian lusterware, emits a calm glow when exposed to light. This work, which features a popular arabesque pattern of figures and impressive lusterware with beautiful coloring, is one of the best works among lusterware works. The paulownia boxes are made by the long-established Ando Paulownia Box Shop.
