With his rich sense of color and extraordinary sense of pottery, he established the technique of Nerijozu. This is the top work by the great potter, Yasunari Matsui, who has achieved many great feats, including being recognized as a holder of the country's Important Intangible Cultural Property for his Nerijozu technique, which shows the way modern, unique pottery can be based on traditional techniques.

This work is a representative example of Matsui Yasunari's technique, which makes full use of his rich sense of color and high-level lacquering techniques. The title of the work, "Shogeki," refers to the cracks that are created by roughening and scratching the surface of the vessel with a brush or comb, and is likened to a pattern. It expresses the rough and harsh texture of the clay itself, and is highly regarded as demonstrating the artist's unique world of work, which was not present in previous lacquering works. This is an extremely skilled and famous tea bowl, with a beautifully colored pink gradation expressed against a tasteful background. The name "Yasushi" is inscribed on the side of the foot. Comes with a tamari-nuri outer box.
