Born into a wealthy merchant family in Tsu, Ise Province, Kawakita Handeishi was a businessman who held important corporate positions, including president of the Hyakugo Bank, but also displayed a wide range of artistic talents in painting, calligraphy, the tea ceremony, haiku, photography, and more, earning him praise as "Rosanjin of the East and Handeishi of the West." This work is one of the so-called "777" pieces that Handeishi created when he turned 77. As a reference, we have attached a work in the catalogue that has a similar atmosphere.
